Do I need to submit ID document copies for domain name registration?

According to the new rules of domain name registration in SU domain, submission of copies or originals of the documents is now required.

Copies of ID documents are not required for domain name registration in other domains.

In which cases do I need to submit ID documents?

Copies of ID documents need to be submitted in the following cases:

  • Registration of .SU domains.
  • Change of data required for Registrant's identification.
  • Domain support transfer to another Registrar.
  • Domain ownership transfer to another Registrant.
  • Cancellation of administration rights (registration cancellation).

What if I fail to submit ID document copies?

According to the Terms and Conditions of domain names registration in RU, SU, and РФ TLDs, the Registrar is not entitled to fulfill the below requests of non-identified Registrants:

  1. Change of data required for Registrant's identification.
  2. Transfer of domain support to another Registrar.
  3. Transfer of domain administration rights to another Registrant.
  4. Waiving of administration rights (registration cancellation).

Do I need to submit notarized documents or a plain copy will be enough?

The Registrant may submit plain copies of ID documents, however the Registrar is entitled to submit notarized document copies.

In which way may I submit ID document copies to RU-CENTER?

  • Through web interface "Manage your account".
  • By e-mail: id@nic.ru.
  • By fax: +7 (495) 7370602.
  • By regular mail: 123308, Russia, 3d Khoroshevskaya str., 2/1, Moscow, Russia RU-CENTER.
  • By delivery to our office: 125315, Leningradsky prospekt, 74, bldg. 4, Moscow, Russia.

Are there any limitations for uploading digital copies of ID documents?

RU-CENTER receives digital copies of ID documents that meet the below requirements:

  • Image files shall have .JPG, .JPEG, .PNG, .PDF, and .GIF extensions.
  • File size should not exceed 10 MB.

In which way may I obtain digital copies of ID documents?

Digital copies of ID documents may be obtained by one of the following methods:

  • Scan the identification document.
  • Shoot the ID document by a digital camera and then upload it to the hard disc of your PC.
  • Shoot the ID document by a digital camera of your mobile phone then upload it to the hard disc of your PC.

I had previously submitted notarized ID details to RU-CENTER during domain transfer procedure. Do I need to resubmit ID documents?

No, you do not, except for the cases, when the identification data needs to be changed.

Where can I view my identification status details?

Your identification status is displayed in the "Manage your account" panel, item "Contract" — "Update information".

How can I upload a digital copy of ID document to RU-CENTER?

To upload a digital copy of ID documents, a client will be required to:

  • Transfer an ID document to a digital form (scan, shoot by a digital camera, or a mobile phone camera, etc.).
  • Save document copies in your PC connected to Internet.
  • Log in to the "Manage your account" section.
  • Enter the "Update information" section.
  • In "Identification" form click on "Browse", find your digital copy on your HD and click on "Open".
  • Click on "Upload documents".

I uploaded data through the web form and see the identification status "Document is in review queue". What does it mean?

It means that if you have uploaded a copy of the ID document through the web-interface, and your documents expect a review by RU-CENTER clients support experts. This may take a few minutes.

If you uploaded the wrong image file by mistake, you may still modify it at this stage.

I uploaded data through the web-form and see the identification status "Document is in manual processing". What does it mean?

It means that at the present moment RU-CENTER experts verify the data submitted by you during form filling, with the data specified in the ID document copy. This may take a few minutes.

Upon verification completion, you will receive a letter with verification results on your contact e-mail addresses.
