Second Stage of .ÐÔ Domains Sunrise Registration

On April 22, 2010 ICANN made a positive decision for delegation of the Russia's national Cyrillic domain- ÐÔ. Russia therefore became the first country to introduce the Cyrillic top level domain.

As part of sunrise registration, effective May 12, 2010 the new Provision for sunrise registration in ÐÔ TLD will be enacted to enable holders of the trademarks, which verbal part consists of scripts other than Cyrillic, to register .ÐÔ domains under the sunrise procedure.

A submitted request will be accepted, if only the selected domain name matches the verbal element of the trademark after:

  • omitting unprotected elements from a verbal part of the trademark;
  • transliteration and/or transcription of verbal part components of the trademark consisting of characters other than Cyrillic;
  • omitting endings denoting top-level domain extensions from a verbal part of the trademark (for example, trademark owner "NIC.RU" or "ÍÈÊ.ÐÓ" is equally eligible for ÍÈÊ.ÐÔ or ÍÈÊÐÓ.ÐÔ domain registration);
  • omitting from a verbal part of the trademark non-Cyrillic characters representing transliteration and/or transcription of a similar trademark element made in Cyrillic script (for example, holder of trademark "Äîìåíèíû Domeniny" is eligible for ÄÎÌÅÍÈÍÛ.ÐÔ domain registration);

From April 20, 2010 RU-CENTER is accepting pre-order requests for .ÐÔ domains registration from this category of rights holders, and for the period till May 12 it will review the requests that were earlier denied due to their inconsistency with the former sunrise registration policy . The clients who made pre-orders and those, whose requests successfully passed this review will be able to register the selected domain names on May 12, provided their request was the only one. If two or more applicants place pre-order requests for the same domain, this domain will go into a special private auction.
